Born April 19, 1951, Darlene grew up in Battle Ground, Washington, where she developed a strong work ethic and a love for helping others. She began her career as a secretary, a role she truly enjoyed and in which her warmth and dedication left a lasting impression on those around her. Darlene later moved to Hummelstown in 2006 when she married the love of her life, Earl.
Darlene was a woman known for her kindness, strength, humor, generosity and deep faith. She had a heart for her community and found great purpose in helping those in need. She was an avid supporter of charitable causes, especially those dedicated to serving others. Her compassion and selflessness were evident in all that she did. She was also a devoted member of All Saints Episcopal Church.
Darlene touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She found joy in spending time with family and traveling throughout the country, creating memories that will be cherished forever. One of her greatest passions was hand quilting and sewing — something she lovingly called her “therapy” — where she found peace, creativity and joy.
Above all, Darlene cherished her family and her beloved dog, Daisy. She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Earl H. Spillers, and proud mother to her sons, Brian and Curt. She was also a caring stepmother and dear friend to Patty Smith (Brad) and Stacy Lehman (John), and a deeply loving grandmother to her six grandchildren — Brianna, Curtis, Zoey, Ellie, Ben and Danielle — who brought her endless pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers and is survived by her brother, Carl, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends.
Darlene will be remembered for her unwavering love, infectious laugh, gentle spirit and strong will. The impact she made on those around her will never be forgotten. Her love remains a guiding light in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Although our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Darlene is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, reunited with those who went before her. Her faith has become sight, and her spirit lives on in eternal light, love and grace.
