David L. Bates, born Oct. 9, 1957, was the son of Dr. Robert and Mrs. Pat Bates. David died unexpectedly at home on Nov 28, 2024. He was 67 years old.
David lived his entire life in Clark County, Washington. He graduated from Battle Ground High School and Clark College.
David was a farmhand, chef, built fence, had a tow truck, was a delivery man and cared for his mom in the past few years. David enjoyed scuba diving, cars, trucks and tractors. Children and animals were drawn to David, and he to them,
David was a big man in stature, strong, kind in attitude. He faced many trials in his life but was carried by the matchless grace and mercy of God.
David is survived by his mom, Pat; his brothers, Byron, Gregory and Timothy; sisters-in-law, Mary and Jessie; sister, Kathy; half siblings, Gretchen, Kelle and Auggie; nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. He is preceded in death by his father.
A funeral service will take place at Layne's Funeral Home, 16 NE Clark Ave., Battle Ground, on Jan. 7, 2025, at 1 p.m.. A burial at Crawford Cemetery will follow the service.
