Gary Raymond Ek passed away to his heavenly home on April 10, 2026, at the age of 78, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Vancouver, Washington, and lived in Vancouver his entire life. He was in the Army Reserves for six years and worked as a carpenter and general contractor until retirement.
Gary was the fifth of 10 children born to Leonard and Helen Ek. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene; one daughter and six sons, Randy (Viki), Marty (Tammi), Brian (Chera), Diane (Neil) Bastion, Curtis (Tylene), Lance and Terry (Anita); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of Christian friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Helen; brothers Jimmy, Roger and Doug; and three great-grandchildren.
Gary enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and spending time with friends and Christian companions. He was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and was a steadfast example to all who knew him.
