In Loving Memory of Ilah Tester: 1927-2024

Ilah Mae (Britzman) Tester was born in Bloom, North Dakota, on May 8, 1927. She would have been 98 years old today.

The family moved to Orchard, Washington, when she was 12. She passed away in Sunnyside, Washington, on Sept. 21, 2024, at the age of 97.

Ilah worked at Portco in Vancouver,  Washington. When she was young, she also worked at various liquid refreshment establishments, Prairie High School in food service, and the school for the blind in Vancouver,  Washington.

She is survived by two sons, Donald McElfish and Mike Tester, and one daughter, Donna McCandless; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mae Britzman; two sisters, Roberta Ann Rodgers and Betty Lou Meisner; one son, Jim Joy; and one granddaughter, Jennifer McCandless.

Graveside services will be held on May 8, 2025, at the Bethel Lutheran Church cemetery in Brush Prairie, Washington.
