From 1969 to 1972, Jan attended and graduated from Washington State University in Pullman with her bachelor of science in fine arts. Jan loved getting involved and was a member of Tri Delta Sorority House, Associated Women Students (AWS) and Army Sponsors, who supported ROTC events on campus. It was during one of the ROTC events she met Dennis Lagler, and the two married in February 1972.
Jan and Dennis began purchasing the family dairy farm in January 1975 and grew the business together into a third-generation dairy that today ships to Tillamook Creamery. Jan worked in all aspects of the dairy and was active in the Clark County Dairy Wives for annual events and helping run the Dairy Wives booth at the Clark County Fair. Jan also volunteered her time serving on the board of Lifeline Connections to help local citizens through their rehabilitation journey.
Jan was a true Renaissance woman with her passion for supporting local artists, doing her own dyeing of wool, spinning, weaving, pottery, drawing and costume designs for ice-skating competitions and high school dance dresses. Jan summited Mount Adams and Mount Rainier, was an avid skier, heli-skier, water-skier, loved to ice-skate, dance and play racquetball. Jan had a zest for travel, discovering different cultures and cuisines, and enjoyed hosting people for amazing food and conversations.
Jan is survived by ex-husband Dennis; her children, Bree, Amy, Nathan and Tyson; her grandchildren, Abigail, Aidan, Broden, Karma and Luc; and her beloved dog, Hershey.
