Lloyd Franklin Sorenson was born on July 4, 1938, in Oberon, North Dakota. He grew up in Oberon, leaving to serve in the United States Navy. He returned in 1960 and married Jeannette Bowman.
Lloyd and Jeannette moved to Kelso, Washington, shortly after marriage. They later moved to Vancouver and eventually Battle Ground. Lloyd enjoyed flying, motorcycling, water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling and hunting. He worked in commercial construction as a union carpenter and was a volunteer firefighter.
His and Jeannette’s priority was taking the best care of the family. Together they provided a solid foundation. They raised the family with love and balance: church, school, camping, baseball, softball, band, horses, football, soccer, basketball, hunting, motorcycles—simply enjoying life while teaching values.
He loved to chat, connecting and making new relationships wherever he went.
Lloyd passed on March 6, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington, with his family at his side. He was 86 years old. We will miss him dearly.
Lloyd is survived by Scott Sorenson (Mary), Linda Sorenson, Kory Sorenson (Amy), multiple grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and sisters Gladys Tweit of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Gloria Kutz of Mt. Vernon, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Sorenson; father, Olaf Sorenson; mother, Bertha Sorenson; and brothers Oskar Sorenson, Rueben Sorenson, Stanley Sorenson, Orris Sorenson and Oscar Sorenson.
A memorial service will be held at Northwood Park, located at 16407 NE 15th Ave., Ridgefield, Washington, 98642, at 3 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025.
