Michael “Mike” Ted Nylund passed away at home at the age of 72, after a three-month battle with cancer. Mike went to his heavenly home surrounded by his family on June 29, 2022. Mike was born on Aug. 11, 1949, in Vancouver, Washington, and lived most of his life in Hockinson, Washington. He worked in construction, where he was a general contractor and carpenter. Mike attended Hockinson and Battle Ground schools and graduated in 1967. After graduation, Mike attended Clark College and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Mike was the oldest son of Ted and Millie Nylund. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Jason, and his sister Susie. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Jeanne; his sons Wade with Jill, Dean with Amanda and Kurt with Kaylee; his daughters Amy with Eric Wantaja and Cindy with Brandon Homola; and his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as brothers Steve with Julie and Eric with Kim; sister Linda Simon and brother-in-law Phil Dekker.
He was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and enjoyed being with his family and Christian companions. He enjoyed hiking and biking, going to the beach with his wife, hunting with his sons and friends, fishing with his family, and visiting with his extended family of Christian friends.
