Posted

Mildred “Mid” Claire Weikert Connelly passed away on March 7, 2023. She was born Oct. 26, 1936, and grew up on Flathead Lake in Montana.

She met her husband, Walt, while working at a dude ranch in Glacier National Park during the summers. After graduating from Western Washington University in Bellingham, she moved to Hawaii to be with Walt, who was stationed at Naval Station Pearl Harbor. She spent a short time teaching before marrying Walt and having Victoria and John. They moved to Vancouver, Washington, in 1962 and Cheryl was born in 1963. In 1965, they purchased acreage in Ridgefield, where Mid resided for 57 years.

Mid was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Connelly; brother, Jim Weikert; sisters, Barbara Weikert and Betty Dean Davis; and grandson, Juston Wolfe.

She leaves behind her children, Victoria (Bill) Wolfe, John Connelly and Cheryl Oltmann (Lisa Lockner); six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Cay (Dick) Utterback.

Mid will be remembered as generous and loving with a strong passion for family, friends, the United Methodist Church and the outdoors. Over the years, she was involved in Camp Fire, coaching girls’ softball, umpiring and the preservation of national parks. Being a grandma brought her much joy. She loved spending time at her cabin near Polebridge, Montana, and gardening around her property in Ridgefield.

There will be a celebration of life memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at Ridgefield United Methodist Church, 1410 S. Hillhurst Road, Ridgefield, Washington. Refreshments will be served after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Ridgefield United Methodist Church, 1410 S. Hillhurst Road, Ridgefield, Washington, 98642.
