Virginia Dorothy Bruce, 88, of Battle Ground, Washington, passed away on March 28, 2025. Virginia, better known as Ginny, was born Oct. 23, 1936, to Walter and Dorothy Tylinski in Marathon, Wisconsin, where she lived and worked on the family dairy farm.

After graduating from Marathon High School, Ginny attended the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, earning her bachelor’s degree in home economics in 1958. Upon graduating, she became a home economics teacher, first in Pulaski, Wisconsin, and then nearby Neenah. In Neenah, she met George Bruce, an engineer at Kimberly-Clark. Ginny and George married on July 24, 1965, in Cassel, Wisconsin, and headed west with George’s career to Anderson, California. There, Ginny embraced motherhood, welcoming Karl (1966), Ken (1967), and Gretchen (1968).

In 1993, Ginny and George made their way to the Pacific Northwest, first settling in Tigard, Oregon, and then in Battle Ground, Washington, in 2002.

Ginny is survived by her husband, George; brother, David; three children and their spouses (Karl, Ken and Carol, Gretchen and Terry); five grandchildren (Kimberly, Laney, Kady, Keaton, and Samantha); and one great-grandchild, Ezekiel.
