Letter to the editor: Dems call conservatives extreme while slipping further to the left

Posted

Washington state is effectively a one-party Democratic system where conservatives have little voice.

Democrats created a sanctuary state for over 325,000 illegals. This gave them a huge advantage in the census, which they use to increase their influence in affected districts.

Democrats refuse to own the results of their policies and instead blame the minority party. They push higher taxes (millionaire tax, income tax, repeated gas-tax hikes) that raise delivery and grocery costs and drive jobs out of the state.

Healthcare costs keep rising despite Obamacare.

They treat the First and Second Amendments as applying mainly to themselves, demonize opposing views instead of debating them, and have tolerated Antifa and Seattle autonomous zones.

Their biggest priorities are expansive abortion access and taxpayer-funded gender-affirming care for minors without parental consent. Men are allowed in women’s sports and locker rooms.

They call conservatives extreme for opposing these and warn that conservative ideals threaten democracy. Yet, they openly favor socialism, which is not democracy: democracy requires the real ability to vote leaders and policies out of power, while socialism concentrates economic control in the state, making genuine reversal far harder once established.

These are issues that should concern all of us, yet Democrats will not allow a conversation with real sincere desire to understand. Instead, they choose to assign opposing views as extreme as we slip further to the left.
