I want to share the truth about Philip Johnson. Having served alongside him on the Battle Ground City Council, I’ve seen firsthand his unwavering commitment to public service and his deep care for this community. Philip has dedicated countless hours to helping seniors and veterans, often quietly and without recognition. He frequently assists with home repairs, provides transportation to medical appointments and is always someone the people of Battle Ground can count on.
Philip was one of the great minds who worked to ensure the city could pay off its debts early, an accomplishment that reflects both his fiscal prudence and forward-thinking leadership. As a U.S. Army veteran who served our nation for 25 and a half years, Philip continues to live a life rooted in service, integrity and community.
While he has occasionally sparked disagreement within a local political party, the truth is simple: Philip chooses people over party. That independence, grounded in principle rather than politics, is precisely what effective leadership looks like.
I am proud to have served with Philip Johnson and hope we have the opportunity to continue working together on the Battle Ground City Council. There are important projects still ahead, and I have no doubt Philip will continue serving our residents with the same dedication, intelligence and integrity that have defined his decades of public service.
