This is a thank you to everyone who made last weekend special in La Center. We joined hundreds of others at the Christmas tree lighting in downtown La Center on Dec. 8. The fireworks(!), time for the children to talk with Santa and Mrs. Claus, free cookies and hot drinks, music, the live nativity provided by the local church and vendor booths were all perfect. Also, whoever created the dedicated website for the event did an outstanding job. The site made it so easy to know what to expect and how to enjoy the events throughout the weekend.
Having moved from a city of 80,000 people a couple years ago, this event surpassed anything our former hometown does. Other towns should take note. Anyone that wants a special family event for all ages next year should add this to their calendar for December 2025 now.
