Letter to the editor: Lack of Battle Ground Pride Day coverage a gross oversight

Posted

I have enjoyed your coverage of Harvest Days, various town celebrations, the Clark County Fair, etc. However, I find it completely unacceptable that your publication chose to ignore the Battle Ground Pride Day held on Aug. 1, 2026. As an ally of LGBTQ+, I attended the celebration and found it to be full of great music, food, information and amazing people!

My question to you: Is The Reflector going to ignore activities that do not align with the mayor's Christian nationalism agenda? Is The Reflector going to discount families that are not "nuclear?" Is The Reflector going to pick and choose what types of events to cover based on sexual identity?

I realize you must choose what is published in The Reflector, but to completely ignore the Battle Ground Pride Day was a gross oversight on your part. I hope that in the future you choose to include all types of community events and not just ignore events that happen to ruffle the feathers of The Reflector's new owners and the politicians of Battle Ground.
