Letter to the editor: Overholser would be a consensus leader on BG council

Posted

I recently had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Eric Overholser, a candidate for the Battle Ground City Council Position 7, at the Union versus Battle Ground varsity football game and was impressed with how his campaign has shaped up since we first spoke about it several months ago.

At that time, I had just stepped down from my council position after moving out of the city, and he came to ask for advice on his campaign, as well as current matters the city is facing. I got the chance to hear who he was and what he stood for. I found him to be a humble servant leader who owns his own business, coaches youth football and leads in the Church in the Streets ministry. After that short conversation, he took every piece of advice I gave him and put his own flair to it. He also demonstrated to me that he has his finger on the pulse of what is currently being discussed in council meetings including the MFTE proposal and other land-use issues. He makes himself available to discuss his positions with concerned community members and is willing to consult with the experts when he doesn’t know the answer to a question. I feel that Eric will be a consensus builder among a group of council members that may not always see eye to eye. Please consider a vote for Eric Overholser on Nov. 7.
