Letter to the editor: Perez Delivers Results Through Bipartisan Leadership

Posted

Working across the aisle to get real results for her constituents: Representative Marie Gluessenkamp Perez will be facing re-election this coming November. A representative can introduce legislative bills while also evaluating other legislative proposals offered to the House by colleagues. Perez has displayed a smart willingness to reach across the aisle to get things done. She finds common ground and can achieve meaningful results. Ideological purists may not always be pleased, but her balance, flexibility and thoughtfulness can often avoid endless conflicts that can paralyze important legislative progress.

Perez has paid attention to critical areas that are often neglected - Veteran healthcare rights, childcare access and affordability, women’s reproductive rights, and the Career and Technical Education initiative as a viable alternative to college education. Perez’s diverse district requires her to balance the needs of both urban and rural constituents. She has been successful in securing funding for a variety of local projects, such as wastewater infrastructure improvements, fire service modernization, dock refurbishment, and updating a rural medical clinic.

Perez’s record and accomplishments are a testament to what we, as her constituents, can expect from her if she is re-elected in November.
