As 2025 comes to a close, the Woodland Action Center reflects on a year marked by growing need and by a strong commitment to efficiency, accountability and community-driven solutions.
Throughout the year, we supported individuals and families facing food insecurity, housing instability and economic hardship. Rising costs and ongoing uncertainty increased demand for services, making it more important than ever to use resources responsibly and effectively.
In 2025, Woodland Action Center distributed 235,000 pounds of food in fewer service days than in previous years. This accomplishment reflects careful planning, improved coordination and a focus on maximizing impact while minimizing waste. Every donation, volunteer hour and partnership was treated as a responsibility to the community, and we worked intentionally to ensure resources reached those who needed them most.
Strong partnerships with local organizations like the United Way of Cowlitz-Wahkiakum County and businesses were essential to this success. We are especially grateful to Red Canoe Credit Union, whose team volunteered their time and energy to support our work. Business partnerships like this play a critical role in strengthening community services and demonstrate the positive impact of local organizations investing directly in their community.
Volunteers remained central to our work throughout the year. Their dedication allowed us to operate efficiently even during periods of high demand. At the same time, we recognized the importance of sustainable volunteer engagement and worked to improve communication and scheduling to better support those who give so much.
The year also brought challenges. Rising operational costs and supply constraints required adaptability and careful decision making. Meeting increased demand while maintaining accountability pushed us to refine systems and prioritize long-term sustainability, work that will continue into the coming year.
As we look ahead to 2026, Woodland Action Center remains committed to responsible stewardship, measurable impact, and collaboration. We will continue focusing on efficient service delivery, strong partnerships, and thoughtful use of resources to support Woodland’s most vulnerable residents.
We invite community members and businesses alike to stay engaged by volunteering, donating, or learning more about local needs. Continued community involvement ensures the Woodland Action Center can remain effective, accountable, and responsive in the year ahead.
The WAC Board of Directors and staff extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported our work this year. Your involvement makes a real difference!
With gratitude,
DeeAnna Holland
Woodland Action Center Board president
