Letter to the editor: Voice of commuters missing in speed limit debate

Posted

The series of articles and debates regarding the lowering of the speed limits on state Route 502 and state Route 503 is missing the opinion of the commuter, those who want to travel from the Battle Ground and North Central Clark County area to Vancouver, Camas and Portland and return.

While safety is a paramount, there also needs to be consideration given to providing high-speed corridors that are not clogged with signals and roundabouts.

I was looking to WSDOT to advocate for commuters and feel that WSDOT needs to be in the business of providing high-speed roadways and let the cities develop the local access and business routes.

I am disappointed that Carley Francis is not providing that solution and feel that legislative action needs to be taken to ensure that we have safe local access roads and commuter-friendly roadways connecting major communities in Clark County and the metro area.
