Battle Ground School District voters recently voted NO to two school levies. It is very possible that during this year's primary and general election, there will be one more attempt, in addition to this current election, since there is a limit of two elections per year. Have you changed your mind on your vote? Have conditions improved in Battle Ground Schools?
Ask yourself, has there been any significant rise in recent poor student test scores? Has the Democratic supermajority in Olympia reduced any of the required OPSI disciplinary rules and conduct that create chaos and confusion in the classroom? Is there a restoration of the loss of parental rights? Can parents protect their children in public schools? Are students still living in a school environment that indoctrinates students to accept chaotic, undisciplined behavior in the classroom? Are the administrative salaries, starting with the superintendent, down to lower levels, being cut to meet budget? The answer to these questions is a resounding NO! It is interesting that Washington State ranks 4th nationally in teacher salaries, yet students' test scores and graduation rates are not commensurate with those salaries.
Are BG school Libraries reducing the number and access to pornographic literature (70+ different books)? This literature is designed to sexualize children at an early age, promote and groom children to non-heterosexual relationships, fornication, sodomy, gender confusion, and homosexual sexual practices. Has Washington State, under Democrats rule, relaxed or removed mandated Comprehensive Sex Education, K-12? This curriculum is in fact, introducing sexual acts to children at an early age and grooming them to believe abhorrent sexual behavior is OK? The Answer to these questions is NO!
Are parents being given full access to the curriculum and/or opportunities to observe classroom instruction?
Have mandates from the governors and legislative branch been removed that teach Marxism
and Communism, such as Critical Race Theory, Class warfare, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and ESG (environment, social, governance)? Answer: No!
Although a lot of attention in this letter has been directed to Olympia, frankly, the previous BG
school board did not make much progress either in addressing many issues stated. Washington state continue to rule over school districts with an iron fist. Additional money will not extinguish
most of the problems stated. Inflation is rampant, and many parents cannot afford to homeschool or pay for private or charter school education. To top it off, the state holds needed funds and intimidates school boards.
Although I am voting no on the levy, I am optimistic that the new BG school board can make the needed changes in the current budget. I am optimistic; however, I do not want promises but action. We should wait till the next levy election to see if the school board can come up with a lower levy number, well below 2$ per thousand as well, and an improvement in the issues discussed. Lord willing, the new school board will make a difference!
