As a proud member of our community, I am writing to urge my neighbors to vote yes on the upcoming school levy. This investment in our schools isn’t just about education, it’s about our shared future. Here are five key reasons why passing the levy is essential for our students, families, and the health of our community.
A school levy ensures that our classrooms remain places of high-quality learning. Levies fund essential educational programs, up-to-date textbooks, classroom technology, and basic learning materials that state funding alone cannot cover. Without it, class sizes often increase, course options shrink, and the excellence our schools strive for begins to erode. Every child deserves access to the resources they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
Teachers are at the heart of our schools, but they can only do their best work with the support and security provided by stable funding. Levy funds are often used to maintain competitive salaries and professional development opportunities that help attract and retain passionate, skilled educators. Communities that value their teachers see better student outcomes—and this levy is a clear message that we do.
From maintaining clean classrooms and safe playgrounds to ensuring proper heating, lighting, and technology, levies help create safe, functional spaces where students can focus on learning. Many of our buildings are aging and require updates for safety and accessibility. Passing the levy ensures we can maintain facilities that meet modern standards, protecting both students and staff while making our community proud.
Communities with strong schools have strong property values. Families considering where to buy a home almost always look at the quality of local schools. When we invest in education, we invest in our neighborhoods, our property values, and the character of our town. A yes vote keeps our district, and our community, moving forward together.
When our schools thrive, our entire economy benefits. Today’s students are tomorrow’s workers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Levy funding helps prepare them with the critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills that employers need. Choosing to support the levy is choosing to build a brighter, stronger future for everyone, one that begins in our classrooms.
In the end, this isn’t just about numbers on a ballot, it’s about values. Passing this levy says that we believe in our children, our teachers, and our community’s future. On election day, let’s come together and vote yes for education, opportunity, and pride in our schools.
Our students are counting on us. Let’s not let them down.
