Literary Leftovers Used Bookstore in Battle Ground is accepting art and poetry submissions for a community calendar contest from talented local students in the 98604 zip code.

All submissions are due by Saturday, Oct. 14 and will be featured during an art exhibit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 at the bookstore, 813 W. Main St. No. 105.

“This will also direct much-deserved attention to the excellent young writers and artists among us,” according to a press release.

Literary Leftovers staff favorites will be featured in the bookstore’s calendar, which will be available in the shop beginning Dec. 1.

“All proceeds will fund our children’s program, offering free weekly and seasonal activities for children of all ages in our community,” a release stated.

Submissions can be submitted in the shop or by emailing literaryleftoversusedbooks@gmail.com. Submissions should include the student’s full name, grade and a phone number or email address where participants can be contacted. By submitting, the student grants permission for Literary Leftovers to reproduce and sell the artwork and poetry, as well as for use on social media.
