Love Street Playhouse to perform ‘Who Stole My Dead Husband’ in Brush Prairie

Love Street Playhouse’s “Who Stole My Dead Husband” comedy drama, paired with a four-course Italian meal, will be coming to the Cloverlane Mercantile and Event Center in Brush Prairie.

The play, written by Ridgefield’s Lou Pallotta, is making a comeback after being revised following a long run of performances around Oregon and Washington, including Spirit Mountain Casino and 4 months on the Portland Spirit.

Pallotta drew from experiences growing up in Brooklyn when writing the Italian mob play. The play gained influence from growing up in Brooklyn along with a real-life experience that gave Pallotta the name.

“So, I took an experience that happened in my life, a real-life experience that was really tragic, and I turned it into a comedy that includes the story of the dead husband,” Pallotta said. “You’re gonna laugh. You’re gonna sing. You’re gonna toe tap. You know, you’re gonna be waving napkins over your head. You’re gonna learn a little bit of an Italian language.”

Love Street Playhouse from Woodland has decorated the inside of Cloverlane like an outdoor Italian cafe.

“So, you feel like you’re in this really cool Italian restaurant and it just embraces you,” Pallotta said.

Love Street Artistic Director Melinda Pallotta has assembled a creative team to support this effort, including Bethany Pithan of Longview as musical director, Alex Girard of La Center as stage manager, and Bobby Pallotta designing lights and sound, a release stated.

Tickets to ”Who Stole My Dead Husband” are $64 and $69. Tickets can be purchased online at LoveStreetPlayhouse.com or by calling 800-966-8865.

Lou and Melinda Pallotta said they have aspirations of publishing this play and taking it nationally. “Who Stole My Dead Husband” was first performed in 2004 and carried on until 2011. The seven-year run has been dubbed as Portland’s longest-running theater production, according to the press release.

The return features some of the original cast, including Lou Pallotta as Luigi Fishetti; Sharon Mann of Vancouver as Concetta, the grieving widow; Dani Baldwin of Portland as Luigi’s daughter, Angela; Alex Lankford of Portland as Frankie Jr.; and Kim Dewey of Vancouver as Aunt Marie. The show also features Dave Roberts of Vancouver as Johnny Boy Fratelli; Alan King of Portland as Dominick Coletti; Bobby Jackson of Portland as The Mook; and Wayne Yancey of Vancouver as Jimmy. The cast will be joined on stage by Larry McCullough of Vancouver as Carlo Russo on the accordion.
