The board of directors of the Master Gardeners Foundation of Clark County recently approved grants totaling $34,615, which will benefit local horticultural education activities.

Recipients of the grant include the WSU Clark County Master Gardener Program, the Clark County Veterans Garden, the Fort Vancouver Historic Site Interpretive Garden, Minnie Stromgren Memorial Gardens, the Heritage Farm Organic Practices Demonstration Field, the 4-H Restorative Community Service Garden, Farm to Fork Heritage Farm tours, the Hazel Dell School and Community Garden, the Maplewood Moseley Community Garden, the Clark County Adventist Community Garden, the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Garden and the Roots to Road program.

The foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to supporting the Washington State University Extension Master Gardener Program, according to a news release. It aims to promote horticulture practices through hands-on education, demonstrations and experiences.

The release stated the revenue to support the grants is mainly generated by the annual Mother’s Day Weekend Plant Sale held at the 78th Street Heritage Farm. The next sale will be held by appointment only on May 5 and May 6, and will be open to the public on May 7.
