Mayor Matt Cole has proclaimed June 2026 as Great Outdoors Month in Ridgefield, recognizing the parks, trails, waterways and natural areas that help define the city and the broader Southwest Washington region.
Cole issued the proclamation Thursday, May 28, encouraging residents and visitors to spend time outdoors and take advantage of the recreation and natural spaces available throughout the area.
City officials noted that time outside can support physical, mental and emotional well-being, while also giving people a chance to connect with the region’s natural beauty.
Throughout June, the Lower Columbia Nature Network will help connect regional partners offering outdoor recreation opportunities, volunteer projects, educational programs and community events. Those activities are intended to help people explore local parks, trails and waterways while learning more about stewardship and conservation.
In Ridgefield, June will include a variety of outdoor opportunities, from dragon boat rides and the city’s annual Big Paddle Waterfront Festival to stewardship projects, hiking, fishing, paddling and local trail adventures.
The proclamation also coincides with National Get Outdoors Day on June 13. Residents and visitors are encouraged to mark the occasion by trying a new outdoor activity or visiting one of the area’s natural spaces.
