NatureScaping to host class on bats, bulb and seed-swap event

Backyard Buddies

NatureScaping Wildlife Botanical Gardens’ September class will focus on bats. From 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 16 at the CASEE Center, Building B, Room 205, 11104 N.E. 149th St. in Brush Prairie. NatureScaping will host “Bats: Our Backyard Buddies,” presented by Brandon Burger from the Backyard Bird Shop in Vancouver.

There are over 1,200 species of bats worldwide with more than a dozen found here in Washington, five of which are likely to use a bat house if placed correctly, a release by NatureScaping stated.

The class is free to Naturescaping members or $15 for non-members. NatureScaping memberships cost $25 per year, $15 for seniors 65+.

Perennial, Bulb
and Seed Swap

NatureScaping Wildlife and Botanical Gardens will be holding its seventh annual Perennial, Bulb and Seed Swap from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Wildlife Botanical Gardens, 11000 N.E. 149th St. in Brush Prairie.

A CASEE Center “mini” native plant sale will be returning this year during the event.

Guidelines:




Perennials & bulbs should be potted or in sturdy plastic bags


Fresh collected seeds should be kept in individual envelopes or baggies by variety


Viable store-bought seed packets are welcome


Items should be labeled as specifically as possible (i.e. botanical or common name, size, sun/shade, wet/dry, bloom time, plant height)


Plants should be well watered and pest free


No invasive plants are allowed
