New Ridgefield Youth Commission holds inaugural meeting

Posted

The City of Ridgefield has appointed its first Youth Commission, a new advisory group comprised of local eighth through 12th grade students. Members were appointed by the Ridgefield City Council on Thursday, Nov. 6, and held their inaugural meeting shortly after.

Throughout 2026, the commission will study e-bikes, e-scooters and similar devices while gaining hands-on experience in civic leadership. Members will meet regularly, hear from subject experts and prepare a final report summarizing their findings. Their recommendations may inform future updates to local regulations, a City of Ridgefield news release stated.

At the first meeting, commissioners learned about their role, discussed how advisory boards support city government and met with councilors to ask questions about current issues in Ridgefield, according to the release.
