Plane crashes into Yale Lake, boaters rescue pilot

A 76-year-old pilot escaped with minor injuries after a small single-engine airplane crashed into Yale Lake in northeastern Clark County on Tuesday, July 22.

According to the Clark County Sheriff's Office, deputies, including members of the Marine Patrol Unit, and North County EMS responded to the crash at about 11:30 a.m.

Investigators said the pilot, who was the aircraft's only occupant, reported experiencing a mechanical failure before the plane went down in the lake.

The pilot was able to exit the aircraft before it sank and was rescued by nearby boaters. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified, and the crash remains under investigation.
