The Prairie boys basketball team has advanced to the Tacoma Dome despite an opening round loss to Mt. Spokane High School in the 3A state tournament while the Columbia Adventist Kodiaks advance as the ultimate underdog in the 1B tournament.
The Prairie Falcons entered the 3A state basketball tournament as the No. 6 seed, landing them two chances to continue in the champions bracket. However, one life was already used after a 59-53 loss on the road to 3-seeded Mt. Spokane High School on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The Falcons will now play a loser-out game at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, against 11-seeded Edmonds-Woodway High School in the Tacoma Dome. A win sends the Falcons to the quarterfinals round against Bellarmine Prep on Thursday, March 5, at 9 a.m.
The Columbia Adventist High School boys basketball team advanced in the 1B state tournament after a 63-60 win as the 17-seed over 9-seeded Willapa Valley on Saturday, Feb. 28. The win sends the Kodiaks to the round of 12, playing against No. 8 Wahkiakum High School in a loser-out matchup on Wednesday, March 4, at 2 p.m. in the Numerica Veterans Arena in Spokane. A win would send the Kodiaks to the quarterfinals round against 2-seeded Almira Coulee Hartline High School on Thursday, March 5, at 2 p.m.
In girls basketball, the 2A Ridgefield Spudders lost in a loser-out matchup, 52-40, to Fife High School on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 12 p.m. The Spudders end their season 13-13.
