Public Health issues toxin warning for Round Lake

Posted

Clark County Public Health has issued a warning for Round Lake in Camas after water samples taken on Monday, Aug. 11, showed elevated levels of cyanotoxins from harmful algae.

While the advisory is in place, visitors should avoid swimming and water skiing, keep pets out of the water and steer clear of areas with scum. Lake water should not be consumed and fish should be cleaned well with organs discarded, a news release by Clark County stated.

Toxic algae remains an issue across Clark County. The danger advisory for Vancouver Lake, first issued July 23, is still in effect. All recreation at Vancouver Lake is discouraged, and pet owners are advised to keep their pets away from the water. Public Health is also monitoring Lacamas Lake, where harmful algae are present, but toxin levels remain below state thresholds.
