Clark County is hosting a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 to present the list of proposed code amendments to Clark County Code sections regarding conservation areas.
Participants at the hearing will be provided an overview of the proposed amendments and adoption process before sharing questions and comments.
Counties are required to review and update critical areas ordinances every eight years, a release from the county stated. The codes in question are habitat conservation and wetland protection. The proposed amendments include combining the two codes into a single ordinance for streamlined administration and updates in consideration of the current Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Priority Habitat and Species Management Recommendations and Department of Ecology guidelines for wetlands.
The meeting will be hosted in a hybrid format with both in-person and virtual participation options. The in-person hearing will be hosted in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver. Following the meeting, the proposed amendments will be presented to the Clark County Planning Commission at a 5:30 p.m. work session on Nov. 3 and a 6:30 p.m. public hearing on Nov. 17.
