The opening-day lineup for the Ridgefield Raptors of the West Coast League — a collegiate wood-bat summer baseball league — against the Northwest Star Nighthawks featured a Spudder alum batting as designated hitter.

Liam Ostrom, a power-hitter and 2025 Ridgefield High School alum now playing for the College of the Canyons in California, batted seventh and recorded the Raptors' first hit, a hustle double, in the bottom half of the third inning on Thursday, May 28.

Ostom joins the Raptors back in his hometown on his high school’s field at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex after a standout freshman campaign for the College of the Canyon Cougars. Ostrom batted .288 with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs in 39 games for the Cougars.
