The goal, “Road to 100: Photographing the bird species of southwest Washington,” by Reflector reporter Cade Barker led to the first verified sighting of a Ross’ goose at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge’s River S Unit since 2013 on eBird.
The lone Ross’ goose was with a flock of cackling geese on Jan. 23. The sighting, documented on eBird, also marks just the ninth overall verified sighting of the species at the River S Unit.
