Ridgefield Dragon Boat Program team Calapya is seeking new members to join the crew for the 2025 season. Experienced and beginner paddlers are welcome to join the team.
Team Calapya will host an informational meeting for prospective members from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Ridgefield Craft Brewing Taphouse, 120 N. Third Ave., Ridgefield.

Dragon boating is a highly accessible team sport that provides participants with a full-body workout. The sport builds strength, endurance and coordination. To join Calapya, no experience is required, the news release stated.
“Everyone starts somewhere, and dragon boating is all about showing up, trying your best and enjoying the journey,” Calapya member Erik Odegard said in the news release. “No experience is needed, just a willingness to learn and have fun.”
The 2025 season will run from March 16 through Oct. 4. Team Calapya practices from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 10 to 11:45 a.m. on Sundays.
An affordable three-practice trial period is available before committing to the team. Equipment, including paddles and life jackets, is provided during the trial, the news release stated.
