Ridgefield enters stricter water conservation stage

Ridgefield residents’ careful water use has kept demand low through the summer, allowing the city to delay stricter conservation measures. The city is now entering Stage Two of its Water Conservation Strategy, aimed at managing peak demand during the hottest months of the year.

This year, daily water use has stayed below 2.5 million gallons even on the hottest days in Ridgefield. Compared to 2024, the city saved an average of 275,000 gallons per day in July and August, and water billing for those months was about $20,000 lower, a news release by the City of Ridgefield stated.

During Stage Two, residents are asked to follow a nightly odd/even watering schedule, promptly repair leaks and adopt other water-saving practices. The city is also taking steps to conserve water, including managing city-owned irrigation, delaying nonessential water use and limiting water for construction, the city said.
