Ridgefield homeowners interested in creating water-wise, pollinator-friendly landscapes can apply for a grant program offered by the Ridgefield Garden Club, which provides up to $200 for the purchase of Pacific Northwest native plants.
The Native Plant Grant Program supports low-maintenance, organic gardens that provide native habitat in the Ridgefield 98642 ZIP code. Grant recipients will receive a list of qualifying native plants; however, applicants may propose other native-friendly options, accompanied by an explanation, according to an announcement by the Ridgefield Garden Club.
The grants are only available for new garden projects. Participants will also receive educational signage explaining the gardening techniques used. Applicants must allow the Garden Club to photograph completed gardens for promotional purposes, though addresses will not be published.
