Ridgefield students now have the opportunity to help shape city policy through the community’s first-ever Youth Commission. The new program invites youth to share input on local issues and work directly with community leaders.
The nine-member commission, along with up to three alternates, will meet from November 2025 through September 2026 to research community topics and present recommendations to the Ridgefield City Council, a news release from the City of Ridgefield stated.
The Youth Commission will study the growing use of electric bikes, electric scooters and similar devices for its first project. Issues considered will include safety, accessibility and potential updates to local regulations.
Applicants must be in grades 8–12, or of equivalent age, and either attend school in the Ridgefield School District or live in the Ridgefield Urban Growth Area. Applications are due by Monday, Oct. 20, and can be submitted online at shorturl.at/D1NJ9.
