Ridgefield School District launches Ridge Connect for homeschooling families

Ridgefield School District has launched Ridge Connect, a new program through Wisdom Ridge Academy designed to support families who homeschool their children.

The program provides curriculum, licensed teacher support and weekly check-ins to help parents structure lessons and align learning with state standards. It is open to students in grades K–8, a news release by Ridgefield School District stated.

Ridgefield School District hired Amy Avery, who has more than a decade of experience in parent-partnership education models, as Ridge Connect program coordinator.

“I’ve walked this journey both as a parent and as an educator,” Avery said in the news release. “I know how valuable it is to have a partner to talk to, someone who can guide, provide curriculum and help adjust plans when needed. Ridge Connect gives families that partnership. They don’t have to feel like they’re doing this alone.”

Wisdom Ridge Academy Principal Susan Smith said the program helps Ridgefield families stay local with their children’s educational enrichment.

“We know many Ridgefield families have been driving to other districts to find homeschool partnership programs,” Smith said in the news release. “Ridge Connect provides a way for families to stay here, save money on curriculum, and have the reassurance that a trained, licensed teacher is overseeing their child’s education.”

A Ridge Connect open house is scheduled from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, at Wisdom Ridge Academy, 5645 S. 11th St., Suite A101, Ridgefield. To learn more, visit shorturl.at/ZWsOT.
