View Ridge seventh grader Jael Benedick won first place in this year’s Superintendent’s Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest. The judges selected her work because it tied into their theme, “The Gift of Kindness,” stated a news release from the Ridgefield School District.

Ridgefield School District’s greeting card of the year will feature Benedick’s design. She was also awarded a $50 cash prize at the Dec. 14 board of directors meeting, the release stated.

Four semi-finalist runner ups were also selected. They included Union Ridge Elementary School kindergartener Ruby Hankins, Union Ridge Elementary third grader Kennadi Beu, Sunset Ridge Elementary School fifth grader Alexis Bitter, and View Ridge Middle School eighth grader Amelia Natterstad. Each of them received a $25 cash prize and will have a set of greeting cards imprinted with their artwork, stated the release.

The Superintendent’s Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest launched in 2014 in a partnership between the Ridgefield School District and the Ridgefield Art Association to promote student creativity and encourage students’ appreciation of the arts.
