Ridgefield School District (RSD) announced that 25 of its student vocalists were selected to participate in the prestigious Lower Columbia River Music Educators Association (LCRMEA) and Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) honor choirs at the regional and state levels in an RSD press release on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Students from Sunset Ridge Intermediate School, View Ridge Middle School and Ridgefield High School earned placements in the highly competitive ensembles to represent the district among the best younger singers in Washington and the northwestern United States, the press release stated.
“We are incredibly proud of these students and their hard work, dedication and passion for music,” Ridgefield High School choir director Bob Meek stated in the press release. “Earning a place in these highly competitive choirs is a testament to their commitment to excellence, and we are excited to see them represent Ridgefield!”
Ridgefield High School students Jackie Bernard, Daniel Hess, Macie Regino, Emily Wilken, Chloe Craft and Marie Martinez will join the high school division choirs.
Sunset Ridge Intermediate School and View Ridge Middle School students June Keith, Madeline Fredrickson, Madeline Sullens, Tatym Goodman, Charlotte Jequinto, Lydia Cowie, Serafina Hutchison, Isabella Vasquez, Emma Curtis, Ruby McNutt, Devin Card, Karlie Bok, Izabela Chandra, Zoe Koldsbaek, Amelia Meyers, Claire Moody, Lane Roes, Charlotte Warren and Porter Koch will join the intermediate and middle school choirs.
The selected students will perform alongside top student musicians, under the direction of renowned conductors, as they perform in various concerts through the winter and spring across Washington and the northwestern United States, the release stated.
“These students’ dedication and talent continues to inspire us,” intermediate and middle school choir teacher Bobbe Whetsell stated in the press release. “The selection process is rigorous, and these students put in the work. They should all be proud of this accomplishment.”
Eighth grade honor choir students in the LCRMEA Youth Choir will perform at the upcoming concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Mountain View High School, located at 500 SE Blairmont Drive, Vancouver. Eighth grade students in the WMEA Youth Choir will perform at a concert at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., Spokane, the press release stated.
