The Ridgefield Youth Orchestra is ready to fill the air with music this fall, performing classical, modern and even bluegrass pieces. The program, which started in 2024 with just four violinists, has grown to six students.
The Youth Orchestra’s first concert is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at View Ridge Middle School, 3215 S. Hillhurst Road. The orchestra will perform next at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, during the Hometown Celebration on Main Avenue, Ridgefield, a news release by Ridgefield School District stated.
“We started small, but I have big dreams. I want Ridgefield to one day have a robust string orchestra program they can be proud of—multiple levels, competitions and performances like the bigger school districts,” Youth Orchestra founder Charlotte Barnes stated in the news release.
The Youth Orchestra runs fall, winter and spring sessions that align with school sports seasons. Students pay a small fee for books, sheet music, facilities and insurance. Student scholarships are available, the news release stated.
