Battle Ground’s 2022 Citizen of the Year, Kendra Laratta, will be honored with the traditional Honorary Rose Planting. The ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, in Battle Ground’s Central Park on Main Street.

Laratta has been honored for her volunteer work as a founding member of the Battle Ground Festivals Association.

“Her tireless efforts show up in all of the fun of the entire Harvest Days Festival weekend,” a release stated. “Halloween on Main Street and the Christmas decorating contest, both sponsored by the Festival Association, are also a result of her endless energy. Her impact is widespread on the Battle Ground Community making this a well-deserved honor.”

The time of the event has changed from previous years’ rose plantings in order to take place before the Harvest Days parade.

The Royal Rosarians of Portland, as ambassadors of goodwill and official greeters for the city of Portland, honor a number of area communities and their citizens annually with rose ceremonies.
