Work on Ridgefield’s Royle Road is set to receive a $625,000 loan from the Washington Public Works Board, one of eight projects receiving funding by the board.

The projects total nearly $4.4 million among the eight, a release from the Washington Public Works Board stated. The loans and grants provide support for roads and streets, water, sewer, solid waste, recycling and organics infrastructure.

The board considered and approved all of the projects, which ranged from $100,000 for the city of Patreos’ water system plan, to $1 million for the city of East Wenatchee to improve the North Kentucky Avenue corridor.

“Infrastructure is fundamental and the foundation of healthy, safe and vibrant communities,” Washington Public Works Board Chair Kathryn Gardow said in the release. “The Washington State Public Works Board is delighted to work with our communities and partner agencies to be a reliable and affordable source of funding and technical assistance to maintain the health of our state’s infrastructure systems.”

The projects are receiving funding through the board’s “Traditional Pre-Construction program,” the release stated. The program gives awards on a quarterly basis as long as funds are available.

Following the $4.4 million for this cycle, the program will have about $2.9 million in pre-construction resources remaining, according to the release. The next round of awards is expected to be announced in October.
