Saving Grace Church of the Nazarene provided 37 free haircuts during its second-annual Community Cuts event Aug. 23 in Battle Ground.
Vancouver-based Hidden Gem Salon owner Yecenia Armus and barber Angel Cruz volunteered their time to provide the haircuts. The two stylists stayed an additional hour to accommodate more people, according to a Saving Grace Church press release.
“We had all available time slots filled before the event started,” said Will Swaney, pastor at Saving Grace Church. “We had originally planned for 32 haircuts, but we ended the day with a total of 37.”
In addition to haircuts, the church also provided a free meal featuring hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings. In total, the event served 110 community members.
Founded in 1951, Saving Grace Church describes its mission as welcoming people, building relationships and serving the community. The church is located at 203 S. Parkway, Battle Ground, and hosts community events throughout the year. To learn more, visit SavingGraceBG.com.
