The last time the Main Street Season’s Greeting banner was strung across the thoroughfare was in 2017, according to Battle Ground Communications Manager Alisha Smith. On Saturday, Nov. 30, the city flipped the switch on the new LED banner with a small ceremony led by Mayor Troy McCoy.
In Feb. 2018, Clark Public Utilities reported a potential failure to the banner poles’ anchor system, and it was determined that, due to a catastrophic structural failure, the poles were no longer capable of bearing any more signs, which was why the beloved banner was idle for years. The new banner was purchased in the summer of 2023, Smith stated.
The new banner features the addition of snowflakes on either side of the text to accommodate the wider width of Main Street.
