The Northeast 10th Avenue roadway between Northeast 149th Street and Northeast 154th Street in the Salmon Creek area of Clark County is now open to through traffic.

Clark County Public Works opened the 10th Avenue roadway to traffic on July 28, according to a news release.

Some final work still needs to be completed. That includes planting in areas around a culvert planned for November and December of this year, and establishment work that includes irrigation that will take place over the course of two years after that, the release stated. The roadway will remain open during that time, though there could still be occasional single-lane closures.

The project is part of greater Northeast 10th Avenue improvements, which includes the installation of a center left-turn lane, bike lanes, sidewalks, a signal at the intersection with Northeast 149th Street and a new culvert at the creek crossing north of that intersection, the release stated. Work also included installing retaining walls, water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure.

Prior work completed in 2018 widened Northeast 10th Avenue between Northeast 154th Street and Northeast 164th Street, and included a new bridge over Whipple Creek.

The improvements to 10th Avenue support the Clark County Comprehensive Growth Management Plan, the release stated. They are intended to improve travel times, encourage economic development, upgrade stormwater management and further bring the corridor up to current road standards.
