A small Cessna-type plane received moderate damage after the pilot reported the aircraft’s landing gear struck a hole upon landing in a field in the area of 30000 Northwest 31st Avenue in Ridgefield.

Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue was dispatched to the “aircraft emergency” at 2:31 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 after a caller reported “A plane just crashed in a field to the south of here,” stated a news release.

CCFR battalion chief 21 arrived five minutes later. Engine 23 contacted the pilot, who was the sole occupant of the plane, standing outside of the aircraft.

The landing circumstances resulted in damage to the aircraft’s landing gear, according to the release.

Engine 23 helped the pilot plug a small fuel leak. There were no injuries.

The incident is under investigation by the regulatory agency, stated the release.

CCFR was assisted by emergency responders from American Medical Response and the Ridgefield Police Department.

Resources included two fire engines, one ladder truck, one chief officer, one public information officer, one ambulance and two police officers. There were 14 total personnel involved.
