The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office reported the Lewis and Clark Bridge had reopened as of about 10:55 a.m. Sunday after a suicidal person had climbed up the structure.
A crisis team talked to the person and used a bucket truck with the help of the Longview Fire Department to get the individual down. The person was transported to receive a mental health evaluation.
The report of a suicidal person on the bridge came in at 8:55 a.m., the sheriff's office reported.
The Washington State Department of Transportation reported at 9:10 a.m. that the police activity had blocked both directions at the Lewis and Clark Bridge.
The structure spanning the Columbia River between Rainier and Longview was closed until further notice, WSDOT updated at 10:22 a.m.
Longview police and the sheriff's office marine patrol also responded to the scene.
