A countywide technical rescue response helped bring an injured swimmer to safety at the Camas Potholes on Sunday, June 23, according to Clark County Fire District 6.

Region 4 Technical Rescue members were among the crews called to the scene after a swimmer with minor injuries became stranded on the far side of the river and down a steep embankment.

When crews arrived, responders helped the swimmer cross back over the river. The patient was then placed into a SKED rescue stretcher and brought up the embankment using a low-angle rope rescue system.

Fire officials said the successful rescue was the result of coordination between multiple agencies across Clark County. Responding agencies included East Clark Professional Fire Fighters, Clark County Fire District 6, Vancouver Firefighters IAFF Local 452, Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue and Fire District 3.
