The Battle Ground and Prairie high schools’ girls soccer teams played a hard-fought match with most of the action taking place in the centerfield for a 0-0 draw with no overtime on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

For Prairie, goalkeeper Lille Amies made eight saves with no real threatening attacks by the Tigers. For Battle Ground, goalkeeper Clair Moss made six saves. The Falcons had one major attack, but Avery Hoskins’ shot went wide.

The Falcons are fighting to stay undefeated in the 3A Greater St. Helens League.

“We have Heritage on Thursday, and then Monday senior night against Evergreen, and if we take care of Thursday night, the league title appears to be ours with one game in hand,” Falcons head coach Ryan Glaser said after the game against Battle Ground. “So our goal is obviously to go out and to win out against Heritage and Evergreen, and that would give us an undefeated season in league.”

The game against Battle Ground wrapped up a 13-day stretch that featured seven games. Glaser said the team took Wednesday as a reset day to stretch and take care of themselves.

The Falcons beat Heritage High School, 7-0, on Thursday, Oct. 19.

Tigers head coach Cindy Brooks considered the game against the Falcons as a stepping stone to future league games.

“We’ve got to win at least one,” She said. “I’d like to win two, but we have to perform well, and we’ve got to be able to finish the goal. We gotta come out strong like we did tonight and be positive in what we’re doing.”

Battle Ground lost to the Union Titans in a 2-0 game on Thursday, Oct. 19.

The Falcons’ season concluded Monday, Oct. 23 against Evergreen, but results were unknown at time of print, and the post-season schedule has not been released as of print time.

The Tigers played the Skyview Storm on the road on Monday, Oct. 23, but results were unknown at time of print. Battle Ground will host the Camas Papermakers for the final regular season game of the season at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25. League standings and a possible post-season schedule for the Tigers has not been determined at time of print.
