Tree sale set for Saturday, March 15

Thousands of trees will be offered for sale by the Clark County Farm Forestry Association during an annual public sale set for Saturday, March 15, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Albertson’s parking lot, 2108 W. Main St., Battle Ground.

Most trees will be priced $2, including varieties of fir, cedar, pine, spruce, redwood, ash and maple. New this year will be Trojan Fir, a popular Christmas tree in Europe. Trojan Fir seeds were collected in their native Turkey.
Most trees available at the sale will range in size from 6 inches to 3 feet tall.

Members of the Master Gardeners program of Washington State University will be on hand to answer questions about planting and caring for trees.

The Farm Forestry Association, an organization of timber tree farmers, recommends that trees be planted as soon as possible. Trees should be stored in a cool, shady place with roots kept wet until planting.

About 8,000 trees and shrubs were sold in last year’s tree sale. Proceeds support forestry-oriented projects and scholarships.
