Tukes Valley Middle and Primary schools receive futsal net funding

Tukes Valley Middle and Primary schools will rework their playgrounds this summer, and Battle Ground and Lewis River Rotary clubs have partnered to fund futsal nets for the students.

Futsal is a fast-paced, soccer-like game on a small hard-surfaced field. Futsal is a technical game with high-pressure situations, making it great for developing physical skills, according to United States Youth Futsal Organization.

Tukes Parent Teacher Organization reached out to Battle Ground and Lewis River Rotary clubs for funding, as each net costs $2,200.

“This collaboration between the school, our community and Rotary started with an ask. We are so blessed to have a community that says yes,” Dan Hanenkrat, Battle Rotary Club representative, said in a press release.

The futsal ball court will be prepared once the playground is resurfaced and reconfigured to address issues associated with the original design to maximize the available space, according to the press release.
